Celebrating 30 Years of Pellman’s Automotive: A Legacy of Trust & Excellence

Celebrating 30 Years of Pellman’s Automotive: A Legacy of Trust & Excellence

The smell of fresh oil, the hum of an engine coming back to life, the feeling of grease-covered hands after a hard day's work—these are the moments that built Pellman’s Automotive. Thirty years ago, it was just a dream—one fueled by passion, dedication, and a commitment to serving our Boulder community with honesty and expertise. Today, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we reflect on the long days and the hardworking hearts that made this journey possible. Most of all, we celebrate the people—our team, our customers, and our community—who have driven us forward every step of the way. For us, it’s never only about fixing cars—it’s about the satisfaction of helping people, solving problems, and making sure every customer leaves feeling cared for.

A Humble Beginning: From One Bay to a Trusted Boulder Repair Shop

In 1995, Brad and Lisa Pellman took a leap of faith and opened Pellman’s Automotive with just one service bay and two employees—themselves! Brad’s love for cars and helping people, paired with Lisa’s dedication to running a customer-focused business, laid the foundation for what Pellman’s has become today: a trusted, family-owned auto repair shop with 18 employees and an unwavering commitment to quality and care.

Brad moved to Longmont when he was 11 and has been working in the automotive industry since he was 15. His passion for fixing cars was about more than just repairs—it was about keeping people safe and helping them get where they needed to go. Lisa, a third-generation Coloradan and a Boulder native helped grow the business by focusing on exceptional customer service and community connections.

Together, they built Pellman’s Automotive not just as a business but as a place where people could feel confident that their vehicles were in good hands

Commitment to Excellence & Industry Leadership

As Pellman’s grew, so did Brad and Lisa’s dedication to improving the automotive repair industry as a whole. Over the years, they have served on regional and national industry boards and councils, advocating for better service standards, innovation, and ongoing education for automotive professionals.

Brad's leadership roles have included serving on the ASA Colorado Board from 2010 to 2019, acting as Chairman for five of those years, and participating on the ASE Board of Governors since 2013, where he was appointed Chairman in 2022. Both Brad and Lisa have also proudly served on the TechNet Advisory Council for multiple years, helping guide the future of independent repair shops nationwide.

Under their leadership, Pellman’s Automotive has been honored with numerous awards that reflect their commitment to excellence, including the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence, Colorado Environmental Leader Award, Carquest Excellence Award, Best of the West Auto Repair, and the pinnacle recognition of being named Top Shop in the U.S. by MotorAge Magazine in 2013. Pellman’s has also been consistently voted Boulder’s Best Car Repair Shop, a true testament to the trust and loyalty of the community they serve.

Their passion for excellence extends beyond leadership roles. At Pellman’s, all of our technicians receive specialized technical training, ensuring they stay up to date with evolving vehicle technology and industry best practices.

As a shop, we’re also committed to operating responsibly. We’ve been 100% solar-powered since 2011 and exceed industry standards for recycling and sustainability, reinforcing our commitment to both our customers and the environment.

Brad and Lisa remain lifelong learners and industry advocates, always seeking new ways to improve service, support their team, and provide Boulder drivers with the highest level of automotive care.
